Daze Printing is a community-focused screen printing shop in Bend, Oregon, renowned for transforming custom-branded merchandise into intricate artwork and producing high-quality prints. From water-based inks and hand-drawn designs to long-term partnerships with coffee shops, breweries, and creators, founder Jordy Green has established a reputation for collaboration with local businesses.

In 2025, Daze Printing’s people-first, community-forward approach also earned them the Inktavo Community & Culture Award, which recognizes shops that lead with local support and exceptional workplace culture.

Small-Scale Screen Printing and Van Life

Jordy started screen printing as a side business, selling custom-designed, manually-printed shirts at small markets and pop-up events in Northern California. At that time, the operation was primarily mobile, and he didn’t have a full-sized shop to do his printing.

As more people gravitated towards his work, Jordy decided to make the jump into screen printing as a serious endeavor, alongside a move to Bend, Oregon. After resettling in Bend, Jordy rented some space inside another business owner’s commercial property with one simple goal: make enough the first month to prove the business could pay its own way. At that time, he was also living in his van, which drastically reduced his extra expenses.

“I quit my other job and just was determined to make it happen,” Jordy says. “I made $900 the first month and kept trucking along.”

After just a few months, Jordy’s business outgrew his small rented space, and it was time to rethink the next phase of Daze Printing.

Growing and Going Full-Time

Jordy upgraded his printing setup to a Riley Hopkins 150 setup and rode the post-COVID makers market wave with a new space. Local businesses started asking for custom merch.

Drawing on his previous experience working in coffee, Jordy focused on a local coffeeshop, Lone Pine, as a potential client with a cold call.

“I pitched them a vintage-style waffle iron cartoon mascot that I hand-drew,” Jordy says. “At the time, they had merch, needed something more interesting.”

Jordy’s unique artwork piqued Lone Pine’s interest, and they became a regular customer. Simply by elevating what they could do with their branding, he says, he was able to help the shop revamp its custom merchandise line into something unique and fun that sold well.

Since building his relationship with Lone Pine, Jordy has significantly grown his customer list with other local businesses, bands, and lifestyle brands that want artwork that goes the extra mile in terms of creativity.

Adding Printavo to the Workflow

As Jordy’s business continued to grow, he needed better tools to maintain the operational side of his business. Annual growth was hovering around 30–40% so in early 2025, he decided to set up Printavo.

Since setting up the software, Jordy says he’s been able to achieve the following:

  • Present professional invoices with artwork instead of generic payment links
  • Organize production notes so colors and placements stay consistent across reorders
  • Track customer profiles and their spending history
  • Centralize jobs, approvals, and production details for the whole team

Jordy’s particularly excited about how they’re using Printavo data behind the scenes:

“We set up automations with Printavo that really help with customer churn,”  Jordy explains. With their customized automation, the business plans to send messages to customers automatically every 30, 60, 90, or 180 days to keep connections fresh and maintain repeat business.

The business is also able to track expenses directly in Printavo, allowing them to see which work they should focus on and what types of jobs or customers might need reassessment.

Continuing Community Focus

The Inktavo Community & Culture Award honors shops that lead with their community and employees in mind, and Daze Printing is the blueprint for that category. When Jordy reached out to his customers asking for their vote, he said the response was overwhelmingly positive, with an email click-through rate more than twice their normal number.

“A lot of our customers are businesses that we support, like coffee shops, restaurants, and bars we go to,” says Jordy. “There’s this community in the fact that they support us and we support them.”

Jordy says being a local patron, coupled with an active social media presence that is story-driven rather than sales-driven, also helps. Additionally, the shop distributes free swag at various events to not only help keep the Daze name well-known but also provide people with physical reminders of the shop’s unique and high-quality design work.

Looking Ahead

As Daze continues to nurture 30-40% annual growth with their Printavo automations and customized workflows, Jordy says quality remains at the forefront while planning for the future.

Outside of printing, he plans to eventually open an adjacent coffee bar to the print shop, enhancing the community-oriented feel of the business. This will allow customers to come in for a design consultation, but also take their time and hang out if they’d like.

As for printing, the business continues to focus on screen printing, design, and embroidery, all of which are done in-house, allowing them to maintain tight control over quality assurance. With the advent of AI-generated art and more outsourced services, Jordy says that keeping the work in-house allows Daze Printing to show clients how creative they can be with every job, fitting their needs without cutting corners.

With their streamlined workflow and automations, the business has also had time to take on new clients and expand its presence outside of Bend. That includes a recent collaboration with drag queen influencer Pattie Gonia, where Daze printed custom artwork on deadstock and vintage blanks for a successful fundraiser, as well as new custom designs for outdoor brands seeking a return to hand-drawn artwork.

By applying the attention to detail he learned during his years in the coffee industry and combining it with artistic know-how, Jordy and his team are determined to continue building the Daze Printing name both within and outside of Bend.
