When Bill and Kathy Corrente launched LogoMyKid, they had no idea their simple conversation with a curious nine-year-old neighbor would spark a business that would grow beyond their wildest expectations.

Today, this husband-and-wife team is growing their brand development and custom apparel business while staying true to their mission of helping children and companies find their identity.

Inspiration for a New Venture

The path of starting a branding focus on logos for children originally began when Bill was working on a design for one of his existing customers.

His client’s son was present for the consultation meeting and asked what a logo was. Bill explained that he worked with his clients to learn who they are and identify their brand, then designed custom graphics and artwork representing that company.

“After I explained it to him, he responded, ‘I want my own logo,’” Bill explains.

That conversation made Bill and Kathy realize they could create something unique and carve out a niche: personalized logos and branded apparel for children.

Drawing from Bill’s 30 years of brand development experience and Kathy’s educational background, they saw an opportunity to help kids develop their own sense of identity through custom design.

Building Something Special

After testing the waters with a few local families and receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback, the couple recognized significant demand for their product.

They also saw a demand for quality custom apparel and logo design services for small businesses, sports teams, nonprofits, and even franchises.

“We never thought there was so much need out there for quality,” Kathy reflects. “People love our story and our customization approach.”

The business has found particular success working with special needs children. Bill says the emotional impact of having their own personal logo and branded apparel has been profound.

 New Tools for Growth

As their business has continued to grow and order volume has increased, the Correntes have explored tech solutions to enhance their customer experience. As orders have increased and the company expanded beyond its initial children’s logo concept, one big need has been to break away from manual invoicing.

Most recently, they decided to implement Printavo to streamline their growing operation. The decision came after learning about the platform’s ability to handle customer management, invoicing, and production workflow in one integrated system.

After spending their first year building their website, understanding shipping logistics, handling accounting, and establishing their processes, learning another system felt daunting. Still, they say having Printavo’s infrastructure will help set them up for long-term growth.

“Right now we’re working in Excel,” Bill admits. “I have a production list on Word, and then we put everything on OneDrive, so it’s clunky to produce an invoice.”

They’ve also experimented with AI-powered avatar presentations to help children visualize their logo options and make the selection process more engaging.

The response from families has been enthusiastic, with one parent texting back to say their daughter “really loved it.”

For production, they operate from their home studio with DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing capabilities while partnering with local embroidery specialists for more complex projects.

They’re also exploring opportunities with larger printing companies like Kornit to handle bigger orders as they scale and potentially partner with larger commercial customers.

How LogoMyKid is looking ahead

Now that they’ve helped build up a commercial customer list that helps subsidize the logo work, the Correntes say they have big plans for LogoMyKid’s future.

The ultimate goal is to use that commercial work to fund their true passion: bringing free logo designs and branded apparel to children in hospitals and special needs programs.

“That way we can go where the kids need their spirits lifted with a fun logo,” he adds.

The couple is also exploring additional options for expanding their printing capabilities, like investing in more automated equipment and partnerships with larger printing facilities to handle bigger orders while maintaining their commitment to quality and personalization.

Building a Reputation for LogoMyKit

When asked what makes their business special, the Correntes say it’s their genuine passion for making a difference.

Whether they’re helping a local business establish their brand identity or creating a superhero logo for a special needs child, they tackle every job with the same dedication.

“We love what we do,” Bill emphasizes. “Our tagline is ‘Wear Your Story,’ which works well for the kids’ logos and commercial customers.”

With that angle inspired by Bill’s brand development experience, LogoMyKid helps people express their identity through thoughtful design and quality products.

Finding a New Focus

As Bill and Kathy complete Printavo onboarding, they say they’re excited about the efficiency gains that will allow them to focus more on creativity and less on administrative tasks.

With automated production management and streamlined invoicing, Bill says they’ll be able to scale their business while maintaining the personal touch that makes LogoMyKid special.

“Once we’re plugged in, we’ll be able to move quicker,” Bill notes optimistically.

For the Correntes, implementing Printavo fits into their goal of freeing up time and resources to pursue their larger mission of bringing joy and identity to children who need it most.
