One of the most upbeat and forward-thinking episodes of the PrintHustlers Podcast yet: raising your screen printing prices doesn’t have to be scary.
Just ask Alive Print Shop owner Austin Boyd. From printing to the UFC to putting a billboard up in Las Vegas, Alive has had a wild ride over 12+ years. “Weird stuff just happened to work out,” Austin jokes, charting the rocket ride from $1M in revenue to $2M and beyond.
Austin breaks down how he’s used Grant Cardone’s educational series to help his sales team become resilient, friendly, and fun. “There’s 300 million wallets out there, and someone wants to give you their money,” Austin says. The team devotes a small chunk of time to improvising, training, and learning how to connect with people and it’s paid huge dividends for the sales team.
“Last year is not over,” Austin told us. “We have to be as flexible as we can. We don’t have a plan now, we have a strategy.” The smart moves that Austin has made come down to one simple point: get help! As the business scales, Austin has looked for people and systems to help him focus on what he really likes doing: growing the business.
While we’ve discussed raising your prices before at length, we think every shop should take Austin’s firsthand experience into account. By simply raising their prices and streamlining their price structure, Alive quintupled their yearly profits while doing the same volume of sales. Customers barely noticed, with just two of 100+ clients even balking at the increases.
